Write to us. One address reaches the people who make the game, and there is no queue in front of it.
Rayclast is a small project, currently in development and distributed as test builds rather than a public release. We read everything that arrives and normally reply within a few business days.
Common problems
The game cannot find my location
Rayclast reads your position only while the app is open and in the foreground, so start by opening the app. Then check three things:
- Location permission for Rayclast is set to While Using the App — in iOS this lives under Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Rayclast, and in Android under App info → Permissions → Location.
- Location Services are enabled on the device at all, not just for the app.
- You have a reasonable view of the sky. GPS is unreliable indoors and between tall buildings, and the game needs a decent fix before it will place you in a zone.
There is nothing near me
The harbours that sit on real ground currently cover a limited set of Pacific Northwest neighborhoods, so if you are elsewhere you will not find them. Two parts of the game do not depend on where you live: Wandering the Overcast is driven by distance walked, so it works on any pavement anywhere, and At Home is designed to be played from your own safe zone without going out at all.
I lost my progress, or I am moving to a new phone
Rayclast starts you off with an anonymous account that lives only on that device. To carry progress between devices you need to claim it by attaching an email address, after which signing in on the new device with the emailed code brings your progress with it. If you have lost a device without having done that, write to us — we may still be able to help, but please do not delete and reinstall the app first, as that is the step most likely to make it unrecoverable.
Something in a story is broken
Story bugs are the ones we most want to hear about, and the ones hardest to find on our own. A note about where in the story you were, and what you expected to happen instead, is enough.
Reporting a bug
You do not need to fill in a template, but a report moves much faster when it includes:
- Your device and its OS version — for instance, iPhone 14, iOS 18.2.
- The Rayclast version, which is shown on the System Info & Credits page inside the app.
- What you were doing, and what happened instead of what you expected.
If the problem is location-related, the neighborhood is all we need; please do not send us your exact coordinates. The app is built so that they never leave your device, and we would rather keep it that way.
Privacy
What the app collects, and what it deliberately does not, is set out in full on the privacy policy. The short version: your GPS coordinates never leave your phone, and there is no analytics, advertising, or tracking in the app.
